Is a SWPPP required in Texas?

Your project in the state of Texas must have a stormwater pollution prevention plan if the following applies:

 

  • It’s affecting 1 acre or more of land.
  • It affects less than 1 acre of land but is considered by the City or County as ‘part of a larger common plan of development’ per TCEQ, which is basically a way of the City or County forcing you to complete the full SWPPP package for your project.

What We Provide

To start, all we need is an Order Form and a link to access the Civil Drawings and we’ll get your SWPPP taken care of in 72 hours or less! Once received, we’ll create the stormwater pollution prevention plan, customizing it to your exact needs. Your SWPPP will be 100% compliant with all Federal (EPA), State (TCEQ), & Local requirements.

If it’s required for the SWPPP, it’s included in our plan preparation…

If your project disturbs over 5 acres, your Notice of Intent will be prepared and assigned to you for processing electronically via TCEQ’s STEERS Electronic Permitting System. However, we do offer TURNKEY service for just a small premium where we will obtain a DAR form from you authorizing us to handle your Stormwater Permitting. We will process everything on your behalf including the TCEQ Permit fee and you never even have to login to TCEQ’s archaic website that looks like it was designed by a fifth grader. You’ll thank me later!
If the local authority requests a SWPPP site map prior to breaking ground, we will create one for you. This varies depending on governmental guidelines; we’ll let you know if one is needed.

Who regulates SWPPP in Texas?
The EPA has authorized the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) to implement the Stormwater Permitting Program in the State of Texas. They are responsible for issuing SWPPP permits, compliance, and enforcement activities.
How long does a SWPPP last?
A SWPPP is temporary. The plan is only applicable during the construction phase of the project. Once the project is complete, the SWPPP is concluded via a Notice of Termination (N.O.T.).
Do I need to update the SWPPP if the project changes?
